Also at Fenway Health’s headquarters office at 1340 Boylston Street, Boston, were friends and family of the author, Tom Martorelli, who told several of the stories behind the story of For People, Not for Profit, his book about Fenway Health’s forty years of service to women, local neighborhood residents, the elderly, and the LGBT community.

Martorelli’s remarks covered the evolution of Fenway Health as a community service organization, the responsibilities of a story-teller to the people whose lives he reveals in sometimes intimate detail, and – most importantly – the love story he believes will always be at the heart of Fenway Health’s relationship with its volunteers, employees, and patients.

The author's mother, Eileen Martorelli, and nephew, Josh Kantrowitz, enjoy the event.

“I can’t thank Fenway Health enough for giving me the chance to tell such a great story. It’s been a dream come true to meet, and write about, so many people who are true heroes of the community health care movement, the battle against a modern epidemic, and the builders of an organization that will continue to contribute so much in the years to come,” he said at the conclusion of the evening’s celebration.
