Tom Martorelli spent two years researching and writing For People, not for Profit, the history of Fenway Community Health Center, founded in Boston in 1971. Now known as Fenway Health, the organization has grown into a world leader in the provision of care to the LGBT community, the underserved, and its neighbors. Fenway’s leadership is based on four core strengths: quality health care, university-standard research, education of both patients and providers, and advocacy for the rights of patients everywhere.
Tom has spent his career working in community service organizations, including Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a Boston youth service agency; the Appalachian Mountain Club, an outdoor volunteer organization; several museums; the Harvard Club of Boston, and Outer Cape Health Services in Wellfleet, MA. Tom is currently a freelance writer and photographer. He occasionally blogs for Road Scholar, an international educational travel organization based in Boston.
